Discover Our Shilajit Creation Process!
1) Selection of Locations
Geological Surveys
Geological surveys are the first steps to locating the best sources of shilajit. They indicate regions that have favorable environment conditions for the formation of natural resin. Shilajit is generally located at very steep, rocky terrains often in distant and in accessible areas where extreme fluctuations in temperature contribute to the resin’s formation over centuries. Our mountain-climber expedition team studies geological data and marks the locations that are of the suitable altitude, geology, and environmental settings for shilajit to be found. This will help ensure that we are focusing on the most productive and sustainable sources.
Local Knowledge
Local knowledge complements scientific surveys in identifying the best locations to collect shilajit. The local people and practitioners have been working with shilajit for thousands of years and are familiar with the geography and natural cycles that impact the availability of the resin. Working with these communities would be very useful in understanding the traditional collection practices and hidden or lesser known collection areas. They are useful in establishing the specific origin of good-quality shilajit and also in ensuring that our extraction operations are not conflicting with the local practices.
2) Attaining Heights
Trekking and Climbing
Geological surveys are the first steps to locating the best sources of shilajit. They indicate regions that have favorable environment conditions for the formation of natural resin. Shilajit is generally located at very steep, rocky terrains often in distant and in accessible areas where extreme fluctuations in temperature contribute to the resin’s formation over centuries. Our mountain-climber expedition team studies geological data and marks the locations that are of the suitable altitude, geology, and environmental settings for shilajit to be found. This will help ensure that we are focusing on the most productive and sustainable sources.
Season/Time of the Year
There is another very significant parameter for collection. Shilajit is generally collected within specific months when the weather becomes the most favorable. Late spring to early summer is normally the best time because the weather conditions are more predictable, and the risks of extreme temperatures or harsh storms that may dominate other seasons are lower. Shilajit deposits can be accessed safely during this season because the region is relatively mild, and thus the treks to high altitudes are relatively easy. Seasonal conditions are considered when placing a collection schedule so the process is as practical and safe as possible.
Extraction Methods
Hand Tools
Our Shilajit collectors use chisels, hammers, and picks to delicately extract the latter from the rock-face but without destroying the remainder of the natural environment around.
Low-impact Method
This method ensures low impact on the natural surroundings thus maintaining the ecosystem.
Extraction Techniques
Our premier quality Himalayan healing shilajit is carefully extracted from regions where the natural decomposition of plants increases the mineral content of the shilajit. Grading includes the following tests:
Smell Test
Smelling the earthy smell that is typical for pure shilajit. This strong earthy aroma is actually the hallmark of its purity.
Dissolution Test
It is to evaluate the grade and speed the solution has in shilajit.
Glycine Test
It is conducted to evaluate the content of protein in pure shilajit.
Agitation Process
1-The raw material is agitated for about 6-7 hours by adding RO water to allow the complete dissolution of it.
2-pH and temperature are measured from time to time during the agitation process.
3-After agitation, Shilajit filtrate is filtered to an extent to remove impurities.
Filtration Process
The purification of shilajit is a rigorous, multi-step filtration process for our customers. This means all impurities, heavy metals, and toxins collected during harvesting and grading would be washed off during filtration. The resin should hold the required active compounds for which purification is performed. A few important steps for creating high-quality filtrate shilajit.
Some of the critical filtration processes to formulate quality shilajit filtrate are as follows:
A-Membrane Process
Advanced membrane technology is one known filtering method used for the separation of substances with many different effective sizes or charges. Relatively very few molecules, however, the one that is credited for having the good ingredients of shilajit crosses through to the other end of the selective barrier. More gross impurities in terms of dust and particulate matter will be strained out. This process is especially effective in removing large organic impurities without affecting the fragile chemical configuration of shilajit. It ensures that the shilajit will retain all its natural energy while remaining pure and free from adulteration.
B-Ion Exchange:
The second method in the process of filtration is ion exchange, which is a highly technological method to get rid of detrimental inorganic ions like heavy metals that may have existed in the shilajit resin. Heavy metals such as lead, mercury, and cadmium, as well as other inorganic nonessential ions, are harmful. It is possible to replace with nontoxic ions, especially using the ion-exchange process, which ensures the shilajit is safe for consumption. This process is important as it ensures that any harm-causing substances cannot interfere with its therapeutic potentials.
Adsorption
In our third purification process, we cleanse the remaining leftover toxins out of shilajit using the use of natural adsorbents. We mixed one of the most powerful natures for this work, like moringa seeds and sea buckthorn seeds along with triphala powder. All of these are known to adsorb metal impurities such as cadmium, lead, and mercury. These substances will bind to the heavy metals in the shilajit; we then extract them from the resin and leave behind the integrity of its beneficial components. In removing arsenic, we make use of patented, specially designed adsorbents, targeting this contaminant specifically. The filtration setup integrates adsorbents into purified shilajit to ensure it is safe for consumption without any contamination, and while consuming, it proves to be effective.
This multi-step process of filtration ensures that the by-product is totally removed and main product of shilajit is always of the highest standard, with no harmful contaminants, just full of the natural therapeutic constituents that give shilajit so much importance in traditional medicine. Each of the filtration stages takes into account the purity and potency aspects of shilajit while allowing the removal of undesired toxins.
Ultra-filtration and Nano-filtration
Pressure-driven membrane technology reduces impurities at the nanoscale. It does not use reverse osmosis, as it may also take away useful ions such as calcium, magnesium, and iron. This whole purification process is repeated 2-3 times to ensure 100% purity.
Sun-Drying Process
Moist heat is prevented since it can lead to the denaturation of the proteins of the shilajit. Sun drying is a very safe method which produces no CO2 and maintains nutrients within as opposed to artificial heating that takes minerals and vitamins away. The shilajit, which undergoes rigorous purification processes, is sun-dried for 30-40 days to make it optimum in consistency and stability. The final product is kept at room temperature.
Sun-Drying Beneficial Effects
Quality is also compromised through artificial heating to hasten up the preparation of shilajit in the modern ways. Though it acts as an acceleration in the process, it is, in fact, the reduction of the actual essence and efficacy of shilajit. Mostly, companies rush into giving artificial heat of 250 C in the oven. This results in the loss of powerful minerals and vitamins and the actual essence of shilajit. Our team is very particular about the use of natural and organic procedures and hence does not take shortcuts for the product to be of the best quality. We are proud to be the only team globally that personally extracts shilajit from these heights, meticulously processes it, and delivers the most potent, organic, sun-dried shilajit available. This commitment to quality and authenticity has assured that our shilajit retains its natural benefits giving a product that is not only safe but also healthy.
Sun-Dried Shilajit
Shilajit prepared under sun heat or sun rays is sun-dried shilajit. It is considered the purest form of shilajit because of the method or its mode of preparation. Preparing sun-dried shilajit is a time-consuming process, and glass protective frames and sterilized trays used for its preparation are specially designed and manufactured, making sure no external particle enters the glass display frame, as it is an outdoor process. We at Himalayan Healing prepare this ancient way of extracting shilajit resin with a blend of modern technique.
Sundried shilajit is believed to retain the beneficial compounds and minerals found in the raw shilajit. It produces no CO2 and maintains nutrients within, as opposed to artificial heating that takes minerals and vitamins away. While also removing any potentially harmful impurities.
It is commonly used as a dietary supplement and is believed to offer various health benefits, including potential effects on energy levels, hormonal balance, and overall vitality.
